Seven Seas Water has been contracted to supply the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) with 2 million gallons per day (GPD) of emergency water to resolve critical water shortages. St. Thomas has been experiencing crippling water shortages and had to institute widespread emergency rationing due to equipment failure at the aging WAPA Harley thermal desalination facility. Three containerized seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) units were shipped to the site and delivering 750,000 GPD in record time – 28 days from the date of contract signing. An additional 1.25 million GPD is expected to come on line by the middle of January. Seven Seas Water financed and will operate and maintain the systems under a build own operate agreement with WAPA. The fast track emergency supply will be phased out over the next nine months, as Seven Seas Water begins construction on the 3.3 million GPD permanent land based SWRO facility that was awarded in June of 2010 as the result of an international tender.

SUMMARY

Miles Beamguard, PhD and Mr. Hugo Hodge, Chief Executive Officer of the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (VI WAPA), presented at the CWWA 20th Annual Conference “The Future of Water and Waste Management in The Region.”

PRESENTATION

Mr. Hodge and Dr. Beamguard compared the financial considerations and process hurdles of transitioning a municipal water supply from thermal desalination to reverse osmosis. The study is based on theoretical and actual operational data; supported by comparisons between the existing VI WAPA thermal units and data from the 1.5 MGD reverse osmosis water supply contracted to Seven Seas Water in 2009. This successful project has resulted in a contract to provide over 7 MGD of potable water to the Territory by transitioning from thermal to reverse osmosis. VI WAPA expects to save nearly 50% compared to their current water production costs.

Doug Brown, Seven Seas Water CEO and Chairman stated, “Seven Seas biggest asset is our employees. As we have grown, we have been able to bring on people with significant experience in water desalination and waste water treatment. Today, our executive team has well over 300 years of combined experience in sea water desalination and our employees represent our most significant advantage over our competition. John and Jeff have overseen Seven Seas Water’s substantial growth and their promotions to President and CFO respectively are a reflection of their strong contributions to our success.”

ANEAS Agua y Saneamiento recently featured Seven Seas Water in an article based on their successful Public-Private-Partnership with the Government of St. Maarten through a Build, Own, and Operate agreement. The article details how Seven Seas Water successfully expanded an older water treatment facility, reducing energy consumption by almost 40%, and reducing the price of the water - with no costs incurred by the Government.

Seven Seas Water officially entered the Mexican market in 2010 with the goal of providing viable solutions to improve and expand Mexican municipal water plants that are under performing. Seven Seas Water is confident they can replicate the successful partnerships they share with Caribbean clients, in Mexico - by providing reliable water services with no equipment capital costs incurred by the municipality.

Seven Seas Water Corporation is pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with the Water & Sewerage Authority (WASA) of Trindad & Tobago for the rapid deployment of equipment to supply five and a half million (5,500,000) US GPD of seawater reverse osmosis desalinated water. The water is badly needed to help offset the severe water shortage caused by the extended drought affecting Trinidad and Tobago. Seven Seas Water was able to respond quickly to the emergency water demand by utilizing its fleet of ready-built mobile desalination units, a number of which will be located in the Point Fortin area in the south-west of Trinidad. The use of the Seven Seas units by WASA is one of a number of steps taken to address the present water scarcity. Doug Brown, Seven Seas’ CEO noted, “We are delighted we are able to assist WASA in developing a reliable and cost-effective water supply for Trinidad. Our ability to deploy ready to operate systems rapidly allows us to address the current water shortage in Trinidad as quickly as possible. Our experience operating these systems will ensure the island is receiving the most reliable water supply possible.” Seven Seas Water Corporation operates throughout the greater Caribbean and the Americas with the sole mission of delivering crucial water and waste water solutions for municipal, industrial and private clients. Seven Seas Water’s Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) business model reduces client risk by financing and managing the entire water operation – and offering long-term, economical solutions. From desalination to waste water treatment, Seven Seas Water is dependable, affordable and focused on you.
